The Atlanta Branch meets the
second Wednesday of each month September through May at the
Ansley Golf & Country Club. If you are a professional woman in
the arts and would be interested in attending one of our

The program our members most
enjoy is “Painted Sounds” whereby we interpret one another’s art
in our own medium. Here’s an example:

synergy and creative potential of being a Pen Woman…for the
organization provides collaborative opportunities among writers,
artists, and composers.
“Tsunami” features poetry by Frances
Patton Statham, music and narration by Candace Long, and art by
Mimi Gould.

Each Spring
the Atlanta Branch has a one-day, multi-category art exhibit and
luncheon at the Ansley Golf and Country Club in Atlanta. Here

At our last meeting of the
year, we celebrate our Annual Community Awards by honoring a
Georgia-based Writer, Artist and Composer who have made
significant contributions to our state. Here are our 2011
honorees:

Composer of the Year,
Alexandra Pajak, is an Athens, Georgia native. Her
compositions have been profiled in The New York Times,
Wall Street Journal, Scientific American, Nature
Medicine, University of Georgia Research Magazine, and
many more. She recently composed a CD of children’s
songs for the Ocean Society whose curriculum is placed
in over 20,000 U.S. schools. Ms. Pajak is seen here with
husband, Chris. |

Writer of the Year,
Juanita Hughes, grew up in Whitfield County, Georgia.
She has been published weekly in the Cherokee Tribune
since 2003. Her latest book, Tie Me To Your Apron
Strings Again, is a memoir of her mother. Seen here with

on Stone Mountains trails often stop and visit the path
and garden. |

Junko Ono Rothwell,
Artist of the Year, is a master pastelist of the Pastel
Society of America. She is also a member of excellence
of the Atlanta Artists Club and Southeastern Pastel
Society. Ms. Rothwell is a Fellow of the American Artist
Professional League, New York, and a member of the
